This
wonderful retreat is set in the beautiful remote region of Sutherland
on the far North coast of Scotland. The small crofting village of Skerray
is situated 40 miles West of Thurso and approximately 90 miles North
of Inverness. The North coast boasts many glorious (and quiet) sandy
beaches, unforgettable scenery, fantastic walks, a wealth of nature,
some of the UK's best surfing - not forgetting lovely villages and friendly
people!
This is a great spot for fishing with Loch Modsary only 100 yards away
for trout, the famous River Naver a few miles down the road for salmon
(seasonal day tickets can be obtained) and sea fishing available from
the shore or harbour (boat trips on request).
The building itself is an original stone croft house with wood burning
stove and real fire, plus oil boiler for hot water and central heating.
There is also a newly fitted fully equipped kitchen which maintains
its original wood panelling. The house is South facing and looks out
onto fields of grazing sheep to the mountains of Ben Loyal and Ben Hope.
Secluded Lamigo Bay is less than a mile away and well worth a visit,
as is the nearby Torrisdale Bay, boasting an amazing beach; crashing
bubbling white waves from a clear turquoise Atlantic Ocean and tumbling
soft clean sand dunes.
