| REAL SHOCKS - Five mysterians raised by robots in a stratospheric commune, Real Shocks are the best kind of retro futurists; buzzsaw geetars, wibbly analog synthlines, the kind of slinky rock n' roll imagery which bring to mind Monsieur Bolan, plus more tunes than a barnful of bunged-up Baccarachs. Website, REALSHOCKS.COM now functional. Nu album almost ready - ultra rare limited single, 'Openness Is Dangerousness' available now... | |
| KIRBY - A scrumptious Glaswegian foursome who make the best kind of spiky intelligent pop. Expect an Ep out on Planet Boo very soon, but in the meantime I urge you to get along to one of their gigs. The last one I attended in Aberdeen saw them worshipped as sexrockgods/goddesses, signing autographs, inspiring random acts of violence, that sort of thing... Look out for their nu EP on Planet Boo soon. | |

LE RENO AMPS - Aberdeen multi-instrumentalist twosome with a talent for soaring harmonies, barbed melodies and sardonic lyrics. A joy to watch live, kinda like a perfect symbiosis of The Stranglers, Aztec Camera, Johnny Cash and Busted. Nu LP available at the BOOMART now, next live dates - Queens Cross Church, Aberdeen, Nov 27th / Dr Drakes, Aberdeen, Dec 9th / Stereo, Glasgow, December 14th |
| THE FUR ONES - Hailing from Los Angeles, The Fur Ones are Jon Huck and Christina Blackaller, plus a motley bunch of beautiful LA musician types who happen to be hanging around at the time. Their luvverly laid-back Summertime grooves and jazz-tinged beats conjure images of Jane Fonda laughing in a fountain in June 1968, Astrud Gilberto riding a yellow bicycle in a breeze, or maybe something more specific. UK and European Boo-sters can buy the 'Odd Numbers' CD now by going directly to the BOOMART. | |
| DOLLS OF THE WORLD - Planet Boo's intercontinental aural assault continues via Paris, thanks to this space age chanson ye-ye girl gothic beat combo. Louche, glamorous and enigmatic, this trans-Euro kook klub will soon blast into your consciousness via a forthcoming, as yet untitled, Planet Boo el-pee. Betcha can't wait! | |
| POP THREAT - From Leeds they come, all dangerous spiky hooks and barbed guitars. Oh what a marvy noise these folk make on a stage of the realm, all oohh oohh eerkk aahh ookkoookk... but we're not doing them justice here. Go see them - LATEST - Lots of live stuff, and an ace nu split single with The Real Losers. Click the pic to go to their site, or.... Buy one of their many singles, out on the Squirrel imprint, available at the BOOMART. | |

DUCKEGGDAZE - Damo Waters takes you on a trip into his brain over 18 wildly eclectic tracks on his debut solo outing, and you wonder how he lives there 24 hours a day. Sucked into the musical vortex are sounds conjuring thoughts of Captain Beefheart, Aphex Twin, Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, Syd Barrett and Elvis' big nappy, all at once. The result will leave you shocked, puzzled, amused and at times disturbed. Buy 'Duckeggdaze' now at the BOOMART. Chop chop, there won't be many left..... |
| DOLLYBIRD - Exeter's koolest kitschmeisters live in a whirled of Judy Garland and The Prisoner, and doncha think there'd be less war and suffering if we all did? Eh? Eh? Dolly, Kandy, Rillington et al will bring joyjoy into your life if you'll give 'em an inch. Please go to the BOOMART right away, chop chop and get hold of their lovely LP, 'Wave Goodbye To The Bleedin' Obvious', or watch this space for the release of 'The Punch & Judy Man'. | |

LAURIE BENNETT & THE MODELS - Laurie's band of experimental troubadours have been honing their English Indian Summertyme psychedelic pop for a while now, resulting in three albums released on the legendary Magic Blanket label. Laurie's songs take in both sublime and ridiculous at the same time, for instance 'Fresian Carburetion', with it's immortal refrain, "You've got a cow where your carburetor should be..." Look out for a nu mini-LP out on Planet Boo in the coming months. |
| DA.NU.LO - Walsall's finest (and probably only) exponents of the well known genre speedlounge. Da.nu.lo produce a sound which veers from cheesemungus 60s soundtrack stuff to intense lo-fi spacegrooverocknroll. Splenetic with samples, breaks and spongy basslines, the 'lo dee-lite and confuse in equal measure. Latest - lots afoot in the da.nu.lo camp - following from inclusion of da.nu.lo music in projects related to the latest 'Matrix' films, a new album for Planet Boo is on the way, released before Christmas. | |
| OLIVIA HONEY - More a warped sociological experiment than a pop groop, Olivia Honey were formed by arch vivant Terence and louche 1950's newsreel reject T. C. Casual as a bet. The band proceeded to defy convention by never rehearsing or recording together; in fact some members of the band have never met! The O.H. collective consists variously of members such as Sparkle Bo, a multi-instrumentalist Kewpie Doll model who specialises in glockenspeil and electric drill, and Artie Fisk, a blind delta blues accordianist who only ever plays one note - D. No news presently. | |
